Mount Ramelau, or Mount Tatamailau, is the highest mountain in East Timor at 2963 metres. The mountain is located approximately 70km south of the capital Dili and in the district of Ainaro. It can be climbed easily at around three or four hours from the nearby town Hato Builico, which is a 1.5-2 hour drive from Maubisse.
During the period East Timor was a Portuguese colony, it was considered the highest mountain of Portugal.
