Mount Ontake (御嶽山 Ontake-san?), also referred to as Kiso Ontake-san (木曽御嶽山?) is a 3,067 metre high Japanese volcano located around 100 km north-east of Nagoya in Nagano Prefecture. It should not be confused with Mount Mitake, a mountain in Tokyo written with the same characters, and various other Japanese mountains which share the name Ontake.
Thought to be inactive until 1979, it underwent a series of eruptions, but has not erupted since 1980.
The volcano has five crater lakes, Ni no Ike (二ノ池?) at 2,905 m being the highest mountain lake in Japan.
