[edit] Performing Arts
Though a small district, Mt. Ephraim's Music Department likes to think big. Mt. Ephraim Public Schools boasts an instrumental music program, under the direction of Mary Manion, for students in grades 4-8. Performing groups include the 4th Grade Beginning Band, the 5-8th grade Concert Band and the 5-8th grade Jazz Ensemble. In addition smaller ensembles are encouraged as well as participation in the All-South Jersey Jr. High Band program. Band members in grades 5 & 6 may be selected for the Winter Festival Honors Band, a collaboration of students from Mt. Ephraim, Audubon, Haddon Heights and Brooklawn. There are two main concerts per year in December and May with many other opportunities offered.
The vocal music program, under the direction of Beth Egan, offers performance opportunities for all ages. In addition to the 5th & 6th grade and 7th & 8th grade choirs, there are presentations by general music classes including drum ensembles and tone chime choirs. The 5th grade has written and produced original opera including set and lighting design.
