Mount Cavendish

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mount Cavendish is a hill in the Port Hills, overlooking Christchurch, New Zealand, and as such is part of the crater wall of the extinct volcano that forms Lyttelton Harbour.

It is in the Mount Cavendish Scenic Reserve, which sits at the top of the Heathcote Valley, close to the northern entrance to the Lyttelton Road Tunnel.

Mount Cavendish was named for Hon. R. Cavendish of the Canterbury Association. There is a gondola, Christchurch Gondola, that goes to the top.
