Mount Barnard is a mountain in California, the highest thirteener (a peak between 13,000 and 13,999 feet in elevation) in California and also in the United States. It is located on the crest of the Sierra Nevada range, on the border between Tulare County and Inyo County about 2 mi (3 km) southwest of Mount Williamson, the second highest peak in the state. Mount Barnard is the 12th highest peak in California by most standard definitions, just missing the list of California fourteeners. [1] If Mount Muir is included as the fourteener (even though it may not have the required 300 ft of topographic prominence), then Mount Barnard would drop to 13th highest.
