[edit] Transflash size limitations

Motorola e398 is in my opinion worthless.

The proof that it will not accept 1 gb sandisk microSD transflash.

"hellomoto-SG" <hellomoto_custhelp_sg@motorola.com> problems transflash with my e398 phone made in singapore [Incident: 060425-000032]

Dear Sir/Mdm Thank you for your email dated 25 April 2006.

The Motorola E398 is only able to support up to 256 MB transflash memory card. It does not support 1 GB transflash memory card.

The Motorola Phone Tools software works best with Windows 2000 and Windows XP (Service Pack 2) operating system. It does not work with Windows 98 operating system.

Please accept our apologies for not being able to provide a more suitable alternative.

Some users report that the their Motorola E398 may even have problems with the 256 mb transflash as well.

- hmm, My E398 (made in singapore) is doing just fine with Visipro 1 GB transflash memory card. andry 16:26, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Problems

The E398 is not supported by Motorola in the United States. They will not help users with problem with their phone if the phone was made by Motorola in another country.

A real problem of the E398 is that if you try to reflash your e398 with a monsterpack, or firmware upgrades, you need Motorola's PST to reprogram it. Motorola PST are not avaliable to the public, and it may leaving your E398 with just a blinking white screen. --Masssiveego 05:50, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I don't understand this criticism. You used a non-certified / non-approved firmware update and you screwed up the phone? This is your fault, not the fault of the phone or the fault of the manufacturer. -- Slordak 18:26, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
