The Motorola SCPL refers to a slim phone (a la the SLVR line of phones[citation needed]) currently in the works at Motorola. In keeping with the recent four letter nomenclature of MOTO phones, the SCPL (or scalpel) refers to the primary draw of the phone design (namely, a thin physique).

The SCPL was first reported in Engadget on May 24th, 2006. Ron Garriques of Motorola indicated that the phone would contain "five features that promise to set it apart from the pack."

It will be released by Motorola in 2007. The high-tier model will feature a music player, but will lack a physical keyboard. Instead, the phone will feature a single piece of black glass, which lays on top of a screen and touch-sensitive keys (that will act as keypad).[citation needed]
