Considering its status as the first major release by post-metal band Isis, the Mosquito Control EP would prove a blueprint for their musical evolution. The piece runs fluent through all 29 minutes, and all four songs are linked through consistent bouts of chaos and lyrics glued by the metaphor of insect swarms for the failure of a human relationship.
Mosquito Control introduces the first major theme, the mosquito. As well, the reissue of this EP features cover art depicting control towers (the central theme of Celestial).
