Moses Nichols

Moses Nichols (1740-1790) was born in Reading, Massachusetts, June 28, 1740 to Timothy Nichols and his wife Hannah Perkins. Moses Nichols was a physician, and a prominent citizen of Amherst, New Hampshire. On July 7, 1761 Moses Nichols married Hannah Eaton of Lynn, Massachusetts. Colonel Nichols led a regiment of New Hampshire Militia (5th NH Militia Regt.) at the Battle of Bennington in 1777 and the Battle of Rhode Island in 1778.

Moses Nichols was often moderator at Amherst's town meetings and was five times a delegate to the Provincial Congress at Exeter, New Hampshire. Brigadier General Moses Nichols died on May 23, 1790.
