[edit] Comments

  • "(Shokan warrior and cheap sub-boss)" imo the cheap should be cut, looks biased? (clem 17:41, 6 Apr 2005 (UTC))
  • Easter Eggs - I just moved these from the MKI page, where they seemed a little out of place. Could probably use extensive reformatting.

Virog - 15 Sept 2005

  • Tricks to try - Are those pictures really necessary? People want to look at basic pictures of the gameplay not glitches and other unnecessary images. That's just my opinion though. Buzda - 3 Oct 2005
  • What is the "?" box?
It is to represent the fight against hidden character Jade. Buzda 03:49, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Stop adding Skarlet to the character list

Wikipedia concerns information that is based on fact, not assumptions or rumors. Skarlet has never been proven to exist in MKII or ANY MK game for that matter, so stop adding "her". She is already covered in the Minor Mortal Kombat characters article, so she has no place on this page unless someone wants to briefly mention her in the trivia section as a rumored glitch character. Buzda 05:25, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Trivia?

I heard that if you use one of Baraka's fatalities in Scorpion in a stage, there is a small chance of Scorpion's colors change to light blue. Is that true? --201.9.8.16 02:59, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fergality

Someone should add an easter egg about the fergalty on the sega version.

Fergality has been added. Would like to know what part needs a citation as per The Haunted Angel's recommendation. StriderSkorpion 04:07, 22 September 2006 (UTC)
Nevermind about the citation, as Sonicrazy took care of it. StriderSkorpion 05:01, 23 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Shawn Moves

Back when I used to play this on an arcade box (oh so long ago), I saw a repairman look at some kind of service application which listed various counts of things that had happend (number of fatalities, etc.) One of these was a list of "Shawn Moves" that had been performed. Never did find out what these were. Does anyone know? 80.246.32.32 14:58, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

You mean "Shawn Attacks". And I have no idea what that means. Buzda 19:20, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah, "Shawn Attacks". Rumor has it that "Shawn" was a secret character with fire moves, like Blaze. Of course, this is fake. --Dekabreak101 16:50, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Amiga version

I've added some information about the Amiga version. I had initially started this as an entry in the "Trivia" heading, but it grew and grew, and as such I have expanded it into its own section. The Amiga version is arguably the most troubled, buggy port of the game and I felt this deserved some coverage.

I also briefly mentioned an equally buggy port of another Midway-developed beat 'em up, themed around prewhistoric animals (dinosaurs mainly, although there was a giant gorilla in it, I believe). Anyone remember the name of that game?

Cheers. --Squirminator2k 15:55, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

That would be Primal Rage, which was actually done by Atari. It was ported to the Mega Drive\Genesis by Probe who is also responsible for the MK1 and MK2 Mega Drive\Genesis ports. 69.149.223.221 09:17, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bios

Please delete that section, it is not necessary. Name the characters, but don't create a redundant list. -- ReyBrujo 22:37, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Thats a good point, there's no reason to have a large list on an encyloepedia entry - especially since EACH of these characters also has thier own wiki entries! Also, the 'tricks to try' section is TOTALLY uncalled for... this isn't a game hints/secrets page!

[edit] Ports info

Does anyone want to add in the other port developers? I already added the SNES and Genesis developers after the picture captions... but unfortunetly I don't know any of the other ones. Also, even if the GG and Master System ones look similar, are they technically considered the same versions?

Also, if you want to get techinical, is the original version even a port to begin with? Semantics abound.

[edit] Sorry, but this article is terrible!

Instead of concentrating on all of the Easter Eggs in the fucking game, let's concentrate more on the gameplay and differences in the game's ports. Still images for each port of the game DO NOT make up for a "Port" section in the article. But to be honest, I think the whole article would benefit from being completed erased and written from scratch. Buzda 03:01, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

- What is wrong with Easter Eggs? You don't like DVD commentaries, do you? People come here for more than pure facts. They wants rumors, trivia, secret info, etc. Don't assume we just want stats and history. *MeridianiGusev* —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MeridianiGusev (talkcontribs).

DVDs are not Wikipedia articles. EVula 18:12, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

- You should have seen it a month ago, it was twice as long with the only stuff being character infos and arenas. Anyway, I think the stuff I added about the gameplay is enough considering that this is a Wiki article and not supposed to be greatly in depth. If you want to add stuff about the ports (and take out those stupid Easter Eggs things, I agree with you about) please do that. I currently only have the SNES version and haven't played the PSX, GG, etc.

Maybe you should take your complaints to the talk page of Mortal Kombat WikiProject and see what they think. -SaturnYoshi 19:19, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Why was the arena section removed? Just because that crappy "List of Mortal Kombat Arenas" article was created shouldn't mean that any mention of the arenas in this article (or any MK article) should be removed. That would be like removing any mention of the characters in this game's article because each character has its own article on Wikipedia. Buzda 00:19, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Frankly, all of the MK game articles are of rather poor quality. I suggest we create a unified structure for the games on the WikiProject and rewrite them from scratch using that template. The biggest problem I see is too many lists and not enough prose, though I agree that the Easter Egg section needs to be heavily edited (though it is notable with regards to the remainder of the series). Virogtheconq 00:54, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

I'd be more than happy to help out with and/or support such an effort. As it is, I've been striving for consistency amongst the character pages, though the games weren't far from my thoughts. EVula 05:18, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
There is supposed to be a game cheat section on this site. I would think that the info could be added there. Although I think some tricks kinda are noteworthy, but you can still find that info on many other sites.--Iamstillhiro1112 02:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
The end result of some cheats may be noteworthy, but Wikipedia policy is against having articles written as game guides. Adding a "cheat section" to this article would count as game guide material. RobWill80 13:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I added a soundtrack section

Post your thoughts here before removing or bastardizing it. Buzda 05:46, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

It seems adequate, though I think Audio is probably a better title than Soundtrack, given that the sound system information really isn't a "soundtrack" in the usual sense. Virogtheconq 21:41, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. Buzda 05:04, 25 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Take away the playstation port

The playstation port is not true and is just a rumor. There never was a playstation port anywhere let alone Japan(Mortal Kombat is an american originating game)Whoever continues putting the PS paart back stop it it was just a rumor it does not exist! Parralax 23:41, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

See my latest edit summary as well as RobWill's edits. ≈ The Haunted Angel (The Forest Whispers My Name) 22:04, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
The PSX port does exist. Just because it wasn't released in another country doesn't mean it doesn't exist.--Iamstillhiro1112 02:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism section

I don't think this section is necessary. The 2D MKs are notable for their cheap CPU opponents and I think this should be mentioned on the main article about Mortal Kombat instead of on this page. Buzda 04:01, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

I have always hated that section, in alot of pages. Usually it gets filled with hatred filled comments, written in an un-encycolpedic way.--Iamstillhiro1112 02:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Should we trash it? Buzda 03:53, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

The criticism section is only for game critiques to say about MKII. I think we should trash it.--Dekabreak101 16:58, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Maybe that should be noted on the main article, but it could also be touched on briefly here.--Iamstillhiro1112 19:45, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Canon

This flag is also on the Shaolin Monks page. I think there should be some reference on either page as to which is the true canon. Fanatics of MK2 writting that this game IS canon don't count.--Iamstillhiro1112 02:57, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

I've renamed the title of your discussion to match the one given in your dispute tag. Perhaps this should be redirected to the discussion at the Shaolin Monks talk page (here), since two discussions on the same subject would be unnecessary. RobWill80 13:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I think it's fairly obvious that Mortal Kombat II is canon. The question is if Shaolin Monks is canon, which basically retcons much of MKII. However, Monks could not replace MKII on its own. MarphyBlack 10:55, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I think it is also, but calling one canon over another is a strong statement, which should have some kinda sitation. Or you can go the non bias way and say canon of MKSM is challenged at the moment.--Iamstillhiro1112 20:28, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
