The Kingdom of Morocco is an Arab, Muslim, North African country. It is a constitutional monarchy with a population of 29,891,708 (September 2004 census) and area of 446,550 sq km ². It is located in Northwest Africa, bordering Algeria to the east and Mauritania to the south. The Atlantic ocean is bordering it to the west while the straits of Gibraltar is bordering it to the north, being at 8 miles away from Spain. The Moroccan state is over 500 years old.
Moroccan Arabic, also known as Darija, is the language spoken in the Arabic-speaking areas of Morocco, as opposed to the official communications of governmental and other public bodies which use Modern Standard Arabic, as is the case in most Arabic-speaking countries, while a mixture of French and Moroccan Arabic is used in Business. It is within the Maghreb Arabic dialect continuum. edit
