Morrow Plots
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Morrow Plots is an experimental corn field at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is the oldest of its kind in the Western hemisphere. It was established in 1876 and continues to be used today. The Morrow Plot, along with the neighboring University Observatory, was designated as a National Historic Landmark on May 23, 1968.[citation needed]
Because of its historic value, the University, when building a undergraduate library, decided the build the new building with three stories underground, so that the library would not block the sun. This building led to a popular on-campus parody song titled, "You Can't Draw on the Corn," sung by a group called "The Other Guys."[citation needed]
