Morning Musume Otomegumi (モーニング娘。おとめ組? , also romanized as Morning Musume Otome Gumi) is one of the subgroups that divided the Japanese pop group Morning Musume in 2003. Its counterpart is Morning Musume Sakuragumi.
The words otome (おとめ?) and gumi[1] (組?) means "young girl" and "group," respectively. If translated in English, the group's name will be "Morning Musume, the Young Girl Group."

[edit] Purpose
The sole purpose of Morning Musume Otomegumi — as well as its counterpart — was to perform in small towns that couldn't hold concerts for large groups. Aside from separate tours, the group released two singles that represented the modern women, before they became inactive on spring of 2004.

[edit] Notes and references
- ^ Kumi (くみ?) is the rōmaji of the kanji "組" when used alone. If the kanji is used with an another word — in this case, otome — the rōmaji will be gumi (ぐみ?).
