Morin Heights, Quebec

Morin Heights is a town in the Laurentian Mountains region of Quebec, Canada. It is west of Saint-Sauveur and north of Lachute; municipally, it is within the Regional County Municipality of Les Pays-d'en-Haut.

It is primarily a tourist town, having a large ski hill that is popular during the winter months and being on a recreational trailway (the Aerobic Corridor), which is used year-round.

Just south of the town is a recording studio, simply called Le Studio (now closed) that has been used by numerous Canadian and international artists, including The Tragically Hip, Rush, The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, The Bee Gees, Barenaked Ladies, Lawrence Gowan, Rainbow and Cat Stevens.

The town gained notoriety in 1994 when members of the Order of the Solar Temple took part in a mass suicide, after setting fire to their compound. Also, there are massive Gangs taking control of Morin-Heights such as the Bloodz & the Crypts, they've cost numerous attacks and deaths within the Gangs members.

Morin-Heights is also the home of many athletes. Athletes from Morin-Heights really exceed in sports such as cross-country skiing, running, and soccer because of its facilities. Some athletes, young and old, are known throughout quebec, by the names of Phil Shaw (cross country skier) Audrey Bouffard Nesbitt(cross country skier and soccer player) Valerie Gange (cross country skier and triathlete), Olivia Buffard Nesbitt(crss country skier and runner). These names should be remebered and we will soon be adding others
