Morfydd Llwyn Owen

Morfydd Llwyn Owen (1891-1918) made a huge influence in development to Welsh music through the great independence of her writings. Her choral music gave the vocal lines independence from the piano accompaniment. She set a very high standard for herself, her source material, and those who followed her -- audiences began to expect such quality. In total she wrote 81 songs but died at the young age of 27. Before her death she was married to the British psychoanalyst Ernest Jones.
