Moreland Middle School

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Moreland Middle School is a recently christened middle (6-8) school in the Moreland School District in San Jose, California. In the summer of 2006, Samuel Rogers Middle School was shut down and the students were diverted to the Castro Middle School campus, now renamed Moreland Middle School. Despite a petition from students and parents, the move continued. Samuel Rogers Middle School and Castro Middle School have always been "friendly" rivalries, competing against each other in sports. This school houses approximately 1400 students daily in buildings built for 700 and about 20 portable classrooms. The school website is http://www.morelandmiddleschool.us/ The mascot of MMS is a Mustang. Moreland Middle School is now the only school in the district. About 65% of the 8th graders at MMS usually feed into Prospect High School and the rest attend Westmont High School the following year.
