[edit] Song Information
It was written by Steve "Static" Garrett and the song's producer, Timbaland, the song's unusual beat fuses hip hop with bhangra, something not unusual for a Timbaland production. According to Aaliyah's recording label Blackground Records, a remix featuring Jay-Z was planned, but was scrapped due to inadequate funds.
[edit] US Chart Peaks
The single peaked at #25 on the US's Billboard Hot 100 chart and #7 on the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The Richie Santana club remix peaked at #11 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. It was also a moderate hit on the Mainstream Top 40 chart peaking at #19

[edit] "Rock The Boat"
In mid-2001 the video for "More Than a Woman" was shot with Dave Meyers as director. The video was to be released but "Rock the Boat" (the female version of Jay-Z's "Big Pimpin'") began receiving huge amounts of radio-play, so she was immediately sent to the Bahamas to shoot the video. After shooting the "Rock the Boat" video on August 25, 2001, Aaliyah and 7 entourage members died in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
[edit] BET Airplay
The "Rock The Boat" music video was put in the 106 & Park hall of fame, making the countdown over 65 times and landed at #2 on BET's Top 100 videos of 2001. "More Than a Woman" made the number-one spot after "Rock the Boat" was retired.
[edit] Video Description
The video starts with Aaliyah riding a motorcycle down a highway. The camera zooms inside the exhaust pipe. There she is performing in a white bodysuit with other female dancers. Between cuts she is riding the motorcycle and in another scene standing in front of a headlight with her back against the camera.
Later in the video, Aaliyah is dancing with co-ed dancers. Aaliyah is wearing leather spants, gloves, and boots, and a black tank-top. A DJ is in the background playing music while the males have their dancing sequence and the females have theirs. At the end, a silhouette of Aaliyah on her motorcycle is placed in front of sunset with the words "In loving memory of Aaliyah" above.
