Morbid Visions is the first LP released by Sepultura in 1986.

While later albums have a more political edge, Morbid Visions (along with the Bestial Devastation EP) is notable for an almost comical fascination with "Satanic" themes. The band said many lyrics were fashioned after those of Venom and Celtic Frost, as they could not write in English at this point; as late as 1987, Max Cavalera was still translating his lyrics word-for-word, as evidenced by the demo "The Past Reborns The Storms".

The music on Morbid Visions is early death metal and both the production and execution are rather poor. In the liner notes of Roadrunner's reissue of the album (which includes the tracks from the EP Bestial Devastation), Cavalera admits that the band neglected to tune their guitars during the sessions. The sleeve artwork itself is often cited as an example of poor cover design in extreme metal. Nonetheless, the collection is fondly regarded by fans for its unassuming introduction to what became an influential band, and the inclusion of Sepultura's earliest signature song, "Troops of Doom".
