Morai-Heg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the fictional world of Warhammer Fantasy and should not be considered as actual historical fact. For the High Elves in the Warhammer Fantasy setting, Morai-HegHeg is the crone goddess of the underworld. She is the ancient and withered keeper of Sy. It alone knows the future, reading it with its fingers. The future can be read from the stars because Morai-Heg made the heavens.

It decides when it is time, with fate in her hand, she sends her servants - Banshees - to foretell death with their wails. An Elf who understands these wails is said to know the future.

Morai-Heg in Warhammer 40'000

According to the latest Eldar codex(circa 2000-2006), Morai-Heg was a withered, ancient creature who held the fate of mortals in a rune pouch made of skin. She is said to be the mother of Khaine's daughters, although the only current information on these daughters is that they had piercing screams.

When Morai-Heg wished to discover the knowledge hidden in her own blood, she was unable to harm herself(a suggested physical inability, rather than emotional unwilling), so she sent her daughters to "haunt" their father, using their screams to continually unsettle and distract him. Morai-Heg promised Khaine an end to this curse, on agreement that he cut off her hand. After doing so, Morai-Heg gained the knowledge of blood, while Khaine received the aspect of the banshee. The Howling Banshee aspect warriors are representative of the daughters of Khaine
