From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mopungchuket is one of the most beautiful and oldest Ao villages in Mokokchung District of Nagaland. The village is shrouded in myths and legends. It is famous for the romantic story of Jina and Etiben , the Romeo and Juliet of the Ao Naga tribes. The tower, commemorating this story, is a main attraction. At the vicinity of the village is a lake with boating facility and guesthouse. Time-Pillar, village museum, morungs and monuments are worth visiting. It was the location where the Ahoms decided to retreat after a failed attempt to attack the village. Impur, the headquarter and the mission Centre of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), is located just next to the village. Mopungchuket is about 15 km from the heart of Mokokchung town. The nearest railway station is at Amguri and Mariani.
