The user seems to a sneaky vandal. After your warning, there came a set of further edits on his part, which looked suspiciously like a sneaky vandalism for me, and coincided with several months old disguise tactics from the same IP. The signal to noise ratio from this contributor is near zero, and I would be happy to support a pretty harsh blocking. Note that the typical low-time blocks wouldn't help --- the edit history has pretty big gaps w/o any blocks imposed so far. Note that the vandalism by this user is neatly disguised and takes a long time to remove. Feel free to quote me if you push for a block; add the address on your contributions watchlist meanwhile... Hi Monkeyman It's Carsten. I should have logged in :) I am referring to Anonymous User Talk http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:71.195.125.110 (2/19/2006 2:50 pm PST) The Article is as much commercial as the Article at Wikipedia. Did you actually read it or was the fact that its posted on ConsumerMatch.com a Shopping Site? Or is it the Adsense Ad?
Please elaborate "commercial links", because I don't get it. The trigger of the Article was certainly the Syndication of RSS Feeds and the creation of our Weblog. If one of our partners can't make sense out of this new Technology then there must be a lot of our Visitors that have the same problem. The Article is not about maximizing sales at all? Not even as "hidden" message. (English is my second language but I did not know that it's that bad. I should have written it in german I guess). It's about Blogs and RSS and how they work and what to do with them. My Partner still visits dozens of News Websites directly because he does not know about RSS and Feed Aggregation etc. This Article is meant to be an eye opener and refers to things normal people (non-Geeks) can relate to. I'm not sure what your question is. You posted a link to your site on the Blog article in order to drive up traffic and collect revenue on your advertising links. You have an "Advertise on this site" link where people can pay you to place ads. And you are selling things on http://www.consumermatch.com/. Are you asking me if it's ok to advertise your site on wikipedia? The answer is 'no, it is not ok to advertise your site on wikipedia', we have enough trouble keeping ads out of the articles. Also, Wikipedia already has articles on Blogs, Blogging, XML, ATOM, RSS ... why would the Blog article need your link. Aha. It's about the Google Ad. You know what... it bugged me anyway. I removed it for good. I guess it will be okay now to link to the Article or is the fact that the Article is located on a commercial domain already an issue? If so, does that mean, that I could provide the greatest free content without any sales pitch or any other "trick" to divert traffic and Wiki would not be able to link to it and thus not provide information hungry people with what they seek? Are you serious? I still don't think that you read the article and I also think that it would be a useful addition to the article at Wiki because it contains information and explainations that are mission in Wikis Article .... and THAT was the reason why I thought about adding it and then also did. This stupid paranoia that everybody with a comercial Website tries to sell shit to people no matter what and trying to just SPAM Wiki to lure unaware people to their Commerce Hell-Trap is complete rubbis and you know what, you could find out fairly easy by checking from where and to what the link goes. I guess we're talking about this here. OK, then. I think the thing to do at this point is to post what you just wrote on the talk pages at Talk:Blog and Talk:RSS and let the community take a look at your article to see if it makes a contribution worth linking to. My personal opinion is that it does not, but I'm happy to bow to the consensus of the editors. Regardless of your feeling that Monkeyman's point is "rubbis," the fact is that spam is a huge and growing problem here and we have to be vigilant about it, and your site doesn't inspire confidence on first inspection. Oh, I did not know that I can do that. See, I am not familar with the complete Wikimedia set of tools. Webcomic notability guidelines are at WP:WEB. They're basically just a reiteration/clarification of Wikipedia:Verifiability, that Wikipedia articles must be based on published reliable and reputable sources. The alternative -- to create an unreliable encyclopedia -- isn't really a worthwhile option. So, for example, one can write a verifiable article on Narbonic or Penny-arcade because they can be sourced to the New York Times and other reliable sources. There really isn't much serious debate on this issue -- Wikipedia:Verifiability is official policy. So, your key to webcomics-related deletion debates is "Is this article sourced to reliable sources"? If it's just a cast list and a plot summary with no references to reliable sources, it's a likely delete. -- Dragonfiend 16:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

  • COMMENT-The band's discography from inception until present are mostly releases which also contain their own articles on Wiki and have been deemded as being notable (some had BEEN proposed for deletion but kept by administrators as notable). The band was featured on the most recent Tony Hawk video game as listed on the Wiki article for said game, and the new and not yet released album was produced by the current Guns N Roses bassist. The band might not meet the criteria of mainstream music award winnings or billboard charts, but I do believe these things make it very notable. Madangry 01:07, 23 February 2006 (UTC)

I read over the site and researched them on google to see if they met some criteria but it just wasn't there to me. Sir, The link placed for ReturnonAffiliate.com under "affiliate marketing" is no more of a commercial link then the other two there "abestweb.com" and "associatesprograms.com". If anything ReturnonAffiliate.com offers more content through blogs and social networking then the other two do. Associatesprograms.com is purely commercial with the goal of selling a product called "sitesell" and other such money making schemes. You're not supposed to reprod articles. As the banner says, removing the notice is the correct way of objecting to deletion (of course, the person should provide an edit summary, but they don't have to). If someone objects, the deletion is controversial. Prod is specifically for uncontroversial deletions. See Wikipedia:Proposed_deletion#What_this_process_is_NOT_for.

When you still want to delete something that's been deprodded, you just move it to AfD, which is what I'm doing for you. NickelShoe 19:30, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Please I hope you can help me! I have used wikipedia for almost a year but fixed a "membership" last month to better keep up with my contributions. Most of the pages work fine but the Kosovo page work really bad. It's no where close to NVOP. If you want to know I'm defently not some pro-serb patriot nor even from Balkan (acctually Sweden). But history is my biggest interest and I hope I've made alot of good contributions in this site. I hope anyway that you could look on the Kosovo page or please tell me where can I report vandalism? When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

In response to your message, i went back and reduced the description of guild behavior to the essentials. I think there is only fact described and no point of view. Please make a specific suggestion if you disagree. The facts stated have been confirmed by independent GAO report and various other credible parties. Perhaps you could ask an economist familiar with the industry to take a look and revise? I concur that the encylopedia should rigorously monitor this sort of content for accuracy and opinion. Hi Larry. Yes, I got your message. You yourself can create a "Criticism" section within the article by editing it. As long as it is NPOV and referenced I think you'll be fine with the additions. Also, you can sign your messages by typing ~~~~ at the end of your comments. Wikipedia will turn those four tildes into your signature and timestamp it. Peter, Affiliate-software-review is a commercial site. You are selling a service: "To order e-business coaching (US $140/hour) right now simply click on the Paypal "Add to Cart" button ". Your site requires registration to view the comparison data. You send out spam, "Another goal of affiliate-software-review.com is to provide you, the user, with a customized experience on our network of sites." Wikipedia is not an conduit for advertising. The spam problem here at Wikipedia is insane, we have tons of people trying to include their sites as external links into articles every minute. Monkeyman, this is a request to retract your comment re "you send out spam". As I mentioned elsewhere [Affiliate-Software-Review.com] is a professional merchant resource site that uses Aweber which is a double-opt in email management system. Saying someone sends out spam when you have not researched the process is false and damaging. Hi Monkeyman - IFSL is a promotional organisation based in London. We do not earn money by selling anything - our membership of the largest financial services companies in London funds us. Our goal is to inform and educate. Have a look at one of our reports - they are all listed in www.ifsl.org.uk/research/index.html - these reports are free and their goal is to educate and inform on financial services (globally and in the UK).

As the reports are on different financial sectors (banking, insurance, private equity, etc...) I have made sure that I posted the links in the external links section on the appropriate pages (apart from the Hedge Fund report which I thought added more than the link that was posted there). Appologies if I have made an error somewhere. I do not think you will find many free sources of information readily available on the internet (apart from your website) so I think we are unique in that respect.

Our goal is to educate and distribute our reports as widely as possible. You will see on our website that we do not charge for anything so we have nothing to gain by increased traffic to our website.

Note especially that advertising is not a speedy deletion criterion. A relatively new process, proposed deletion, is the halfway-point between speedy deletions and the lengthy AFD discussion process. A page tagged with {{prod}} will be deleted in five days unless someone contests the deletion by removing the tag.
