Monton

Monton is an area of Eccles in the metropolitan borough of the City of Salford, Greater Manchester, England.

Monton is one of the more affluent areas of Eccles,[citation needed] with a few restaurants, pubs and clothes shops along the main road running through it.

There is a festival organised each year on the first Saturday in July.

The community is represented by the Monton Village Community Association

It was administered by the municipal borough of Eccles in the administrative county of Lancashire until their abolition in 1974. The name Monton is of Saxon origin.

Local personages of note who were born or live in the neighbouring Ellesmere Park area include actors, Robert Powell, Philip Middlemiss, Christopher Eccleston, actress Beverley Callard, tenor Jon Christos and footballer Kevin Davies.
