From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Montmajour Abbey (French: Abbaye Notre Dame de Montmajour) is located near Arles in the Bouches-du-Rhône département, Provence, in the south of France.

The Benedictine abbey is situated on a hill and has endured a colourful history of building and destruction from the 10th to the 18th century.

The 10th century Saint-Pierre hermitage, the Saint-Croix crypt and a 12th century Saint-Croix chapel are very important parts of the abbey.
