Montgomery Castle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Montgomery Castle is a masonry castle looking over the town of Montgomery in mid Wales. It is one of many castles on the border between England and Wales. It was built in 1223 in timber and then rebuilt in 1234 by Henry III in his campaign against Llywelyn ap Gruffudd in this area of the Marches. In 1649 it was demolished by order of the Parliament after it had been seized by Parliamentary troops in the Civil War.
