Montfort (Netherlands)

Montfort is a town in the Dutch province of Limburg. It lies about 5 km south of Roermond. It received city rights in 1271.

Until 1991, Montfort was a separate municipality. Since then, it has been a part of Posterholt and later Ambt Montfort.[1]

Since January 1, 2007, Montfort is part of the municipality of Roerdalen.
