Montenegrins form an ethnic minority in Argentina. Many of these Montenegrins view themselves as ethnic Montenegrins.

Some are located in the province of Chaco in northern Argentina, while some in Buenos Aires, Tandilo, Venado Tuerto, and Madariaga. They formed "Colonia La Montenegrina", the largest Montenegrin colony in South America, in Argentina, in which they are part of even today.

Most Montenegrins and their descendants are buried in the cemetery of the town of General Madariaga (City of the Gauchos) , a town of around 5,000 inhabitants. There are more than 50 ,000 Montenegrins and descendants in Argentina

The Montenegrin-Argentinian organisation, Yugoslav Society Njegoš (Socieded Yugoslava Njegos), previously called the Montenegrin Society and Montenegrin-Yugoslav Society for Mutual Aid before World War II, provides mutual aid in the town of General Madariaga.
