Montale is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pistoia in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 25 km northwest of Florence and about 8 km east of Pistoia. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 10,410 and an area of 32.0 km2.[1]
The municipality of Montale contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Fognano,Tobbiana, and Stazione.
Montale borders the following municipalities: Agliana, Cantagallo, Montemurlo, Pistoia.
