Montagu Bay Primary School in a primary (elementary) school in the suburb of Montagu Bay, Clarence, Tasmania. It caters for children from kindergarden to grade 6. The school is famed throughout the state for its incredible views of Hobart, Mount Wellington, the Derwent River and its estuary.

Montagu Bay along with Bellerive and Lindisfarne, is one of the oldest areas to have be settled by Europeans on the eastern shore of the Derwent River. As a result, it soon became one of the first areas in the region in need of educational institutions. Montagu Bay Primary School was not conceived until well after the residential nature of the suburb had been developed, but it was one of the oldest primary schools in the eastern suburbs of Hobart.

The original Montagu Bay Primary School was first established in a shed on the Esplanade in 1933. After a short period in what is now St James' Church, the first Montagu Bay State School opened in a single room transported by parents from East Risdon to Loinah Road in 1935. The school moved to its current site on the foreshore in February 1957. Following an arson fire in 1982 a gymnasium, canteen and additional student facilities were built. In 2002 a major re-development took place. This involved creating larger classrooms, library and hall, and re-development of the office; staff room and staff work areas.

The School caters for approximately 300 students, remarkable considering the size of the residential suburb it serves, and the nearby locality of the much larger Bellerive Primary School, Lindisfarne Primary School and Lindisfarne North Primary School. This is a testament to both the locality, and the high standard of teaching which has been a hallmark of the school from its earliest periods right through to the modern day.

Another testament to that high scholarship is that although many students who complete grade 6 at Montagu Bay Primary School continue within the government school stream, and attend the nearby main government High School, Rose Bay High School, a larger number than average of Montagu Bay Primary School graduates receive scholarships to attent Hobart's independent schools.

The School provides an innovative curriculum which provides young students with a broad basis platform to begin educational streams within Science and Mathematics, English and foreign language, physical education, music, Information and Communication Technologies, and both advanced and special needs education.

Montagu Bay Primary School has a large cricket ground which is also used for Australian Rules Football during the winter, as well as athletics competitions. In addition there are two concrete cricket nets, and two bitumen netball courts, which can also be converted to tennis courts.

As well as providing its young students with excellent academic grounding as preparation for higher levels of education, MBPC has a strong reputation for its sports and PE programmes. MBPC performs well regularly in local swimming and athletics carnivals even against bigger schools, and Montagu Bay Primary School Soccer Club has long dominated eastern shore underage regional football competitions.

For the purpose of internal sports competitions, the school divides students into three "houses". These are named Derwent, Montagu, and Tasman. For identification during competition, they each have their own colours which are: Derwent (yellow), Montagu (blue), and Tasman (red).

The School colours are brown and gold. The school crest features the Tasman Bridge and Mount Wellington Silhoutted within a golden circle upon which the words "Montagu Bay Primary School" are written in black. Upon the image of the Tasman Bridge the words "Knowledge is Power" from the famous Latin phrase "Scientia est vox".
