Mont-sur-Rolle is a municipality in the district of Rolle in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. It is located 2-3km from the shores of Lac Laman (Lake Geneva), above the lake-side town of Rolle. The area is famed for its wine-making fields which has a distinctive fizzy-fruit flavour.

[edit] Viticulture

The Mont-sur-Rolle wines are produced mainly for internal consumption, and are dependent on seasonal labourers producing the wine. Them majority of these labourers are Portuguese migrants who arrive in Switzerland during the wine-making season, and then return home with their wages. This means that the wine has a Mediterranean style fizz to its flavour, given to it by the Portuguese workers who work the vineyards and during the wine-making process.
