Monsheim

Monsheim is a village and a municipality in the district Alzey-Worms, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located on the small river Pfrimm, approx. 10 km west of Worms.

In 1969, the neighbouring village of Kriegsheim was incorporated into Monsheim. Some of the first german settlers in North America, who founded Germantown Township, Pennsylvania in 1683, were from Kriegsheim (then spelled Cresheim). Cresheim Road, Cresheim Valley Drive and Cresheim Avenue in northwestern Philadelphia are named after the village.

Monsheim is also the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Monsheim, which consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"):

  • Flörsheim-Dalsheim
  • Hohen-Sülzen
  • Mölsheim
  • Mörstadt
  • Monsheim (incl. Kriegsheim)
  • Offstein
  • Wachenheim an der Pfrimm
