Monosynth

A monosynth is a synthesizer (musical instrument) that produces only one note at a time. This was done due to the size, and expense, of producing a synthesizer that played multiple notes. Most later synthesizers are polysynths, which can play multiple notes at once.
Well-known monosynths include the Roland SH-09 and the Korg Prophecy.
