Part of the area known as Monkton is My Lady's Manor. Charles Calvert, the third Lord Baltimore, decreed 10,000 acres for himself. He made a gift of this land to his fourth wife in 1713, christening the estate "My Lady's Manor". My Lady's Manor is known for its exceptional horse farms, sprawling, lush, countryside, and by old, stately homes set back from quiet country roads. Foxhall P. Keene, renowned Thoroughbred owner/breeder and Gold Medallist in Polo at the 1900 Summer Olympics, maintained an estate here.

Several other famous people make Monkton their home, from Peter Angelos, owner of the Baltimore Orioles, to Jim McKay, longtime host of ABC television's Wide World of Sports and a long time Olympic Commentator, among others.
