[edit] Album information
The first single released from the album was "Don't Phunk with My Heart". Many of the songs from the album were recorded within the United Kingdom. "Don't Phunk With My Heart" was soon followed by hit "Don't Lie" in August/September 2005. Their third hit, "My Humps", reached #3 on the U.S Billboard Hot 100.
"Pump It", which samples Dick Dale's hit "Misirlou" (also known as the theme to Quentin Tarantino's blockbuster Pulp Fiction), charted at #82 in June 2005 before a single release. It was later released as the fourth single and peaked at #18 in February 2006. A fifth song, "Dum Diddly," charted at #91 on the Pop 100 and was rumoured to be their fifth official single in Summer 2006. The album's tracks earned the group four 2006 Grammy Award nominations and they won Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group for "Don't Phunk With My Heart". The album was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in the U.S. and has sold 3,928,816 copies[citation needed]. The Canadian Recording Industry Association (or CRIA) has certified Monkey Business 6x Platinum, with sales of over 600,000 copies.
According to IFPI, over 2 million copies have been sold in Europe.[1] It has sold 9 million units worldwide.
This was the first pop album to be chopped and screwed by Paul Wall.
The twelth track on the album, "Bebot", is in Tagalog. The video for the song also featured many Filipino and Filipino-American artists, including American Idol finalist Jasmine Trias.
The song "My Style" was featured on the NBA Live 2006 soundtrack.
