Monica Spear

Monica Spear Mootz (born October 1, 1984 in Maracaibo, Zulia State, Venezuela) is a model and former Miss Venezuela 2004.

She represented Venezuela at the 2005 Miss Universe pageant and placed as 4th runner-up. Prior to being named the "fifth most beautiful woman in the universe," Spear completed a bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Central Florida before returning to Venezuela to compete in the national pageant. Her participation in Miss Venezuela also became notorious when she was asked during the pageant, because of her degree, "which Venezuelan playwriter do you admire the most?" and her answer was "Gabriel García Márquez".

She represented the state of Guarico and despite being tipped as a dark-horse candidate to go to the Miss World pageant, beat out 26 other contestants in the world's most competitive national beauty contest for the right to compete in Miss Universe.

She crowned her successor in September 2005. Monica Spear currently aspires to be in the entertainment business and to become a successful actress.
