As of 1991 Bangladesh census^GRBangladeh, Mongla has a population of 137947. Males constitute are 54.73% of the population, and females 45.27%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 77995. Mongla has an average literacy rate of 42.8% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[1]
