The Monastery of San Salvador of Leyre or Leyra is placed at the south of the Sierra of Leyre, in Navarra, Spain. It is one of the most important historical monasteries of Spain. We have wide documentation of it in the 9th century, and since then it has passed through moments of splendor and ruin, and has suffered many expansions and remodelations, the deepest one made in the 16th century, when almost the totality of the monastery was rebuilt. Nevertheless, important Romanesque architecture pieces have reached our times, like the Church, with its Porta Speciosa, and even more ancient parts like its famous Crypt.

The monastery is located in the Way of Saint James.
