[edit] Nat King Cole song
Mona Lisa was an Academy Award-winning song written by Ray Evans and Jay Livingston for the film Captain Carey, U.S.A.. The soundtrack version by Nat King Cole spent 8 weeks as number 1 in the Billboard chart in the USA in 1950. In 1987, it was used as the theme of the British film Mona Lisa. Various artists, including Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and Nat King Cole's daughter Natalie Cole, have released cover versions of this song. Bruddah Iz (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole) also covered the song on the album "Alone in IZ World."
Nat King Cole did not sing Mona Lisa in the movie Captain Carey U.S.A.. It was sung in Italian by a young man whose character's name was Mario. He is not listed in the credits or anywhere else I have been able to find.

[edit] Guster song
Mona Lisa is a 1994 song by the rock band Guster on its debut album, Parachute. The song references the Da Vinci painting, Mona Lisa, in its line of "Fake a smile"--referring to the smile of Mona Lisa in the portrait. The self-proclaimed "heart-felt ballad" is often performed by college a cappella groups such as Duke's Speak of the Devil, Yale's Mixed Company, and Drexel's 8 to the Bar.
[edit] Britney Spears song
Mona Lisa is also the title of a song by Britney Spears. There are two versions of the song; the first was heard on the KISS FM radio station in New Years Eve, 2004. The second one, featuring slightly altered lyrics and sung in a lower key, has been released on the Japanese version of her latest single Someday (I Will Understand) and on the bonus disc of Britney & Kevin: Chaotic... The DVD & More.
- The song surprisingly charted in the Eurochart Hot 100 Singles and peaked at number 146.
[edit] Slick Rick Song
"Mona Lisa" is also the title of a song by Slick Rick. It appears on his debut album "The Great Adventures of Slick Rick"
