Moise Rahmani

Moise Rahmani is an Egyptian author of Sephardic extraction who has written numerous books such as My memories of Egypt, The Jews of the Congo and Rhodes, Un Pan de Notre Mémoire, a homage to the birthplace of his parents on the Aegean Island of Rhodes.

Rahmani was born in Cairo, Egypt into a Jewish family, his parents were Greek Jews from Rhodes. The former diamond dealer speaks several languages including Ladino. A decade ago he launched the monthly review Los Muestros which publishes news of the Sephardic community around the world. Rahmani has research and written numerous publications on the Jewish communities of Congo, many who like his family, left their ancestral homes from the Greek island of Rhodes for the former Belgian colony of Congo during the Balkan Wars of the early 20th century.[1]
