Mohsen Nourbakhsh

Mohsen Nourbakhsh (18 May 1948 – 23 March 2003) born in Isfahan was an Iranian economist, most famous as Governor of the Central Bank of Iran.
Nourbakhsh was educated at the University of California at Davis, and received a Ph. D. in economics. He got his first Government position in 1980, and later served as Member of Parliament from 1987-89, and Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance from 1989-93. He then served as Deputy for Economic Affairs to the President of the I.R. of Iran before assuming the Central Bank office in 1994. His term was cut short by his death in 2003.
He was succeeded by Ebrahim Sheibani.
