Membership shenanigans

Hello Lulu of Lotus-Eaters, Im SWD316. I am here to ask why am I a member of this list, WikiProject Wikipedians for encyclopedic merit/Membership shenanigans. Moe 23:52, 3 September 2005 (UTC)

I did not include (nor exclude) you on any list. I just cleaned up that talk page a little by moving a thread about the "true members" to a subpage. But the comments themselves I did not modify at all (nor write in the first place). Lulu of the Lotus-Eaters 02:48, 2005 September 4 (UTC)

WWE surgeons

I delete them because they are not directly employed by the WWE. They are world famous sports surgeons that sometimes wrestlers go to. WillC 23:00, 5 September 2005 (UTC)

  • You either find another spot for them or I toss them on a daily basis. WillC 23:46, 5 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Return them and I will consider you a vandal and deal with you as such. You are posting incorrect info. WillC 00:05, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
  • Saying what you are doing is vandalism is not a personal attack. Grow up. WillC 02:36, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

your user page link?

it looks like a red link to me! ;)

Although i can tell that it's meant to be creative, i think you should change it back to blue so people know that you really have a userpage..

also, I have a couple of questions for you :-)

  • How do I find out how many edits/contributions I have made without manually counting them on my contributions page?
  • How do I edit my signature that comes up when i type the four tildes?

If you can help me out I'd be very appreciative :) splintax 08:22, 7 September 2005 (UTC)

Lost password

If you've changed the password, it might be difficult to get your account back. The usual next step would be to have Wikipedia e-mail you a new password. However, either you haven't specified an e-mail address or else you have disabled mail from other users. If the former, there isn't much you can do except maybe persuade a developer that you are who you say you are and to have him or her change the password for you. I'm not really sure how one would go about doing that, though. You're sure you changed the password? — Knowledge Seeker 00:39, September 8, 2005 (UTC)

thanks a lot

thanks a lot for the link to kate's tool! was looking for exactly that, and i knew there was a special tool for it somewhere. :-)

I understand what you're saying about the user page link and did notice that it goes from red-to-black, I just think that to many wiki-newbies it may be a better idea to make it green or something :) Just my opinion.

I think with the signature change I'll leave it as it is, but thanks for the info. I'll keep in mind that it's just the nickname under Prefs to change it.

Hey. The Shadez that you had problems with about some barnstars has hacked into my account. I started that account and hes hacked into it. Changed my password. I cant use it now. What do I do? RealShadez 16:11, 10 September 2005 (UTC)

Odd message

SWD, I got your odd message about my attacking Phatcat68. I can assure you that I have not even heard of Phatcat68, let alone communicated with or abused him/her. A look through the list of my contributions will confirm this.

I've now located the posting you were talking about. It was not me but some anonymous villain using my name. Phatcat68 has been left a note explaining this. Arno 03:39, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Arno

Hey SWD316! I just checked my Talk Page and found messages about Arno. I then went to Arno's and posted him a message telling him things were cool. I appreciate you watching my back though! Also, I copied a couple of things to update my user page-your table of favorite things (I am a Steelers fan too-they are winning right now) and the location map. I altered the favorite things a little to suit me (I don't play many video games but I do have an old SuperNintendo system) and that map is really cool. Thanks! phatcat68 18:47, 11 September 2005 (UTC)

Edits

hey SWD316,

I was unable to get Kate's tool working, either :-( I think the page is just down or something - but I can see the main page, just not actually query the DB for my username.. :(

Splintax 00:01, 12 September 2005 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about that

I'm sorry to hear that you're leaving Wikipedia. Thanks for your contributions, they were much appreciated, and thanks for your comments on my talk page.

Farewell

Hello SWD316 (David)! I just logged in to check my talk page and saw your message. Sorry that you are leaving too. I agree that there are too many vandals and thickheaded people. Too many of the articles I created have been messed up by them and when I fix them, they just change them back or else it is so much fixing, I just didn't have time. It is kinda counterproductive to have to deal with people like that. I appreciate you calling me a nice user...many others don't seem to think so due to my Christian views! It was nice working with you when we did on those wrestling articles. You were the easiest person on Wikipedia to deal with and it was smooth sailing working on those articles with you! I have found that not being on Wikipedia is less stressful and I have had more time for other things. I actually only logged in this morning because of the Arno thing but I think it is dead now. Arno seems like a pretty cool user. Anyway, good luck with everything you do. If you want, you can email me at XXXXXXXXXXXXX to keep in touch. (I would appreciate it if you would delete my email address from this message as soon as you get it!). Wikpedia is losing one of it's best editors by you leaving! phatcat68 11:17, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

great to see you back

nice to see you back on Wikipedia. Do you want to tell me why you were on the "wikibreak" in the first place? :-) Splintax 04:39, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

I second that. Thanks for the heads-up on that idiot over at the AOL proxy. I left a charming and pithy comment of my own.  :) - Lucky 6.9 17:42, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Welcome back

Hellow, SWD316. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you—as my professional duties have increased, I have had to cut back on the time I spend on Wikipedia. I'm sorry too to hear that you were having an unpleasant time here. Wikipedia can be both strangely addicting and frustrating. And yes, the constant fight against vandalism can be wearying. Why people would want to mess up a free, volunteer-driven, advertisement-free encyclopedia, I'll never know. But you did the right thing: when you get stressed, the best thing to do is to take a step back and take a little Wikibreak, rather than trying to stick it through and getting burnt out. I'm on a partial Wikibreak myself, not due to frustration but rather due to lack of time, so I'm still popping my head in. If you want to discuss any of your specific frustrations, feel free to drop me a note. Good luck and happy editing! — Knowledge Seeker 04:04, 21 September 2005 (UTC)

Re: Previous WWE Roster

Hi there,

Thanks for leaving comments on my Talk Page. Just wondering if it would be more helpful to the article to list the persons concerned multiple times where necessary, with the wikilink only existing on the first instance, so it is clear when someone has been released more than once.

This has a couple of benefits:

  • Prevents people editing as I have done
  • Allows more information to exist on the page - e.g.: Davey-Boy is better remembered by most long-term fans for his stints in 1985-1988 and 1990-1992 (approx, not checked dates) than for his 2000 stint; John Tenta is far better known for his early 1990's performances as Earthquake than for his 1998 appearances as Golga; the similar applies to The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan. It would be a shame to lose that information, as the average reader is more likely to check the year they are most familiar with.

A few other points as to wrestlers that weren't under contract, e.g.: Gobbledygooker, Blue Meanie, etc. Should they be included? If so, then potentially Pamela Anderson, Leslie Nielson, Mohammed Ali, Cyndi Lauper and others are all eligible for their appearances.

Also, Tommy Dreamer and Ron Simmons are both still under contract the last I heard (Dreamer in OVW and Simmons in PR.)

Perhaps fleshing out the introduction would be useful at any rate, e.g.: definition of who is on the roster.

Happy to help in any way I can.

Cheers,

Essexmutant 22:07, 25 September 2005 (UTC)

Pat Tanaka

Just a bit surprised you moved Tanaka to 1992. He actually made 5 appearances in late 1993, and an appearance on Raw in 1994. Essexmutant 21:36, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

More on Tanaka

Okay, forget 1994 for a moment then. How do you account for 5 Tanaka matches in 1993? Are we really saying that Tanaka was not part of the roster when he did 5 matches, yet Gobbledygooker is part of the roster because he came out of an egg at Thanksgiving '90? Sorry if the tone of this comes across as harsh - I just feel that there are double-standards here. Essexmutant 00:07, 27 September 2005 (UTC)

Thanks

I see we are doing the updates lol Great job on helping me out with the updates. Its called Team Work --- Gottiman

The Ryan O'Reilly link goes to Finctional Character Page by the same name,

Can you change it to red link (No Page Link)? I would but I don't know how. --BionicWilliam 20:16, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

Left?

Hi there, SWD316. I noticed on the members list of Wikiproject:Encyclopedic Merit that you said you left wikipedia. Have you (I know, redundant question)? Also, I've been checking out you edit count and contributions, and I also read that you failed adminship once. I cant believe it. Please, please let me know when you are re-nominated. I will most certainly vote "support". Cheers Banes 20:19, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

Edgard

Crap! I forgot to do that because of someone else's comment on this page who I was busy with... Thanks for the Edgard fix. I am no longer the leader of Esperanza, I have passed the buck to my good friend Essjay. I am too busy with other things at wikipedia, and if I do too much I may just burn out. Esperanza, there's not too much you can do to help, as there's not too much we need to do. You can feel free to comment at WP:ESP/P's talk page on what you think is good and what you think is bad. Stay in touch. Redwolf24 23:09, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

My Clean-up Desk

HI there Stewartadcock, Im SWD316. I saw on my Cleanup Desk that you left this template. {{Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce/Are you active?}}. Why? I didn't leave the clean-up force or Wikipedia so why did you leave this message. I'm just awaiting tasks to do! Please remove it. Moe 23:01, 4 October 2005

Hi SWD316. Everybody on the member list got that task. The idea is so we can assign new tasks just to the 20 or so active members rather than the 70 or so possibly-active, but probably inactive members. When you sign that task, you'll find that you start getting tasks assigned! Cheers. Stewart Adcock 09:50, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi. Do you have any interests apart from professional wrestling? These's a limited number of current tasks on that topic! Stewart Adcock 21:28, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Advisory Committee election deadline set

Our new admin general, Essjay, has set the date for the advisory committee elections, that date being October 7th. By UTC it is October 5th right now. So see WP:ESP/E for voting in two days, and add yourself to the list if you're interested in running. On a personal note, I'm considering running, as I only resigned as admin general because of time. I'm sure I could help out on the advisory committee... Anywho, watchlist that page, and be sure to read the voting method too. Regards, Redwolf24 01:11, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

Esperanza Election

SWD316, thank you very much for your vote of confidence in my bid to become one of the first members of the Esperanza Advisory Committee. Even though the elections not finished, and the final results are still out, I would like you to know that I appreciate your support, and look forward to working together in making Wikipedia a better place to work and edit. Evening, David. I just wanted to pop in to thank you for supporting me in the Advisory Committee Election. I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to do yet, but I trust that Essjay will be a good leader and let us know. And if he doesn't, I'll impeach him! ;o See ya around! Thanks for your support

Thanks

Hey, SWD, thanks for your vote in Esperanza's Advisory Committee Elections. While I didn't get enough votes to be part of it, I know that the four who are can do the job much better than I could have. But I don't take your show of trust in me lightly, I really appreciate it, and tell me whenever you think I can be useful for something. Titoxd 22:59, 14 October 2005 (UTC)

Esperanza Spam

Hello Esperanzians! A few announcements.

The Advisory Committee election results are in. In tranch A are Acetic Acid and Flcelloguy. In tranch B are Ryan Norton and Bratsche.

My other annoouncement is that our founder, JCarriker, has founded Esperanza's sister project, Wikipediology. I have written two essays here (my name is Matt Binder). My essays are under Teenage Wikipedians and Anon Editors.

On behalf of myself and Jay Carriker and the other wikipediologists, I would appreciate it if you were to join.

Cheers Esperanza! Redwolf24 23:45, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

Three Comments about WWE Current Superstar Page

Hello Again SWD316 Matt Striker has been on Heat recently so I guess he is in a gray area in between OVW & WWE RAW

Also instead of putting Jim Ross under Inactive, should not he be under the administration with the title: Executive Vice President, Business Strategies with a mention to his firing in kayfade?

Furthermore, Would it be more logic to list the Commentators, Backstage Announcers, Ring Announcers, & GM under there specific Brand or would it be to messy --BionicWilliam 03:26, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Repost my question from WWE Roster Talk Page About Comentator's/GM's we should at least put what brand there affilated with. My reasoning is say a noobie to wrestling came on here and wanted to know who the GM's it would look like that both Bischoff & Long were Co GMs? --BionicWilliam 21:07, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

Nevermind --BionicWilliam 21:11, 17 October 2005 (UTC)

About Chris Jericho Shouldn't he be under inactive one the WWE Roster like JR is since he might return soon? --BionicWilliam 03:35, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

How do you start to flesh out a Profile Page?

Like a profile boxs since I just want to add a basic bio to mine? I find posting it here on Wiki a big problem. Someone made a mediocre RAW Face/Heel Guide Page Link to the WWE Roster Page also someone spoiled SD! for me by adding Matt Cap. from Tough Enough & The Miz to the Debut Soon Coloum(Is there anything agianist posting spoilers on the Roster Page?) Maybe we should add a don't add change's to RAW & SD! Rosters until shown on US TV like where doing with the titles (Sorry if I'm rambling) -- BionicWilliam 05:19, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

No Apologies Necessary

Howdy, SWD316! I just recently made admin (uh, technically Monday, officially yesterday)...so, no need to apologize. I didn't have the scarlet letter before and only added the link last night. Thanks for the note, though ;-). -- RobyWayne 20:53, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

About Infoboxes

Like the one on you user page that displays your favorites. About the spoilers I know about Smackdown! being tape its just I don't like to be spoiled but I realize now that people will post updates to the roster before the wrestlers on TV. --BionicWilliam 22:10, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

No he's not a vandal. He's just stubborn, which is much worse in my opinion. See further up on my talk page and Talk:ECHL. He likes to blank his user talk too, so check that out. Are you planning on doing something about it? He's seemed to have quited down recently. ccwaters 00:47, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

José Alvarado

Why did you move José Alvarado back to José Alvarado-Nieves? unless disambiguation is needed, you do not refer to someone with maternal surname.--Darren Jowalsen 03:49, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Jose Alvarado (continued)

It is Spanish custom for all people to have both their father and their mother's last name. However, they are never hyphenated and people are generally only referred to with their paternal surname. Having it at "José Alvardo-Nieves" is incorrect and using his maternal name is unnecessary. So, it will be either "José Alvardo" or "José Alvardo Nieves" but definitely not "José Alvardo-Nieves."--Darren Jowalsen 21:59, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

Percy Pringle and William Moody (wrestler)

The article William Moody (wrestler) is a redirect to Percy Pringle. Why do you insist on making Percy Pringle a redirect to a redirect? OwenX 01:52, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. OwenX 01:55, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
That's right, I know nothing about wrestling. What I do know, however, is that it is customary to create the target article before turning the others into redirects. You have been here long enough to know that too, SWD316. Not using Edit summaries also helps create confusion. Anyway, you fixed it all now. Cheers! OwenX 02:08, 29 October 2005 (UTC)

Stone Cold/JR

"Steve Austin was told he was going to do the job for Jonathan Coachman on Saturday and refused. Apparently he also found out that Jim Ross also wasn't returning as Raw announcer despite how the angle was playing on television."

Torrie Wilson & Joey Styles

Are you sure that Torrie Wilson is released? Seems as if WWE shot down those internet rumors, recently WWE has been upfront about firings (i.e. Christian), so why would they say Torrie is NOT released? Maybe she IS just taking some time off, if WWE says so, I would believe them.

Joey Styles not, in his new interview at WWE.Com, he notes that he is under WWE contract as a commentator, just letting you know for confirmation, you can read yourself.

Mickie Jay/Mickey James

when i wrote Mickey James i ment to say Mickey Jay (in the edit) it was a mistake, i know that Mickey Jay supposedly changed his name, but I wanted to point out that on recent editions of WWE television, they still refer to him as Mickey Jay and if you look at Eddie Guerreros' testimonials, he's STILL Mickey Jay.

Why?

May I ask why you are leaving Wikipedia? Esperanza has no hope of resolving it if we don't know why. You're a valued contributor and person; there's not need to leave... -- Celestianpower 21:54, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

C'mon Dave

Stick in there. Don't let a couple of editors get you down. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile, and I'm sure you'll be fine in a few days. Take a pause and a deep breath. Relax and find your way back this way again in a little bit and I'm sure you'll feel better about WP. See you around my friend. --Lord Voldemort 22:28, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Umm... have you forgotten what this project is? This is one of the greatest undertakings that the Internet, and maybe human knowledge, has ever known. It would be a shame to lose another good editor. Perhaps you might try editing in areas that you have'nt been before and meet some new people. There are lots of us good ones out here. --Lord Voldemort 22:32, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

Seconded, try to take a break, as we all know how irritating Wikipedia can get from time to time, and come back soon. Please, wikipedia cant survive if all of the good editors such as yourself leave, come back please! Banes 11:38, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
