Stables and tag teams

I think that would probably work better: even though current teams and stables would be small, compared to former teams/stables. Currently, WWE only has a handful of them, as does TNA and other promotions. Teams in one section, stables in another for each article would probably work best. RobJ1981 01:31, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Question and comments about wrestling teams/stables

I thought an admin was going to delete the list page (from what you posted on the talk page)? Or are you waiting to make the new article(s)? I suppose it's smart to just wait anyway, since many teams probably should go. It would save some time when making a table for the new things. I noticed Fire and Ice is gone now, so that's a good start to this team cleanup. A prod I placed on Christian and Tyson Tomko was removed, so I'm sending it to AFD. Granted they are a duo in TNA currently, they still haven't done much. All relevant and notable information can go into their pages (if not in them already). I believe prods are on several teams still, so it's likely a prod deletion could work for some (I'm hoping at least). This "tag team cruft" needs to be eliminated from Wikipedia. Moral support?

I must say that I'm somewhat surprised that you are voting moral support at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee Elections December 2006/Vote/PMA. I really dislike the "moral support" votes, but at least often there can be some rationale behind them. But giving moral support to somebody whose entire effort in running for ArbCom is a single sentence that can be boiled down to "I've been here five years" is beyond the pale. Maybe you see this differently, but when I support a candidate, I'm putting some of my credibility on the line to do so. Your credibility, at least in my eyes, has taken a hit for your support of this non-candidate. I've given credence to your opinion in the past, and will do so in the future, but not quite so much as before when I see you supporting or opposing an RfA nominee or another ArbCom candidate. —Doug Bell ^talk 08:08, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Triple Crown and Grand Slam Champions

I am not and was never looking to start trouble, all I am trying to do is expand a definition based on fact and references.

The Triple Crown and the Grand Slam are what we have been going back and forth on.

My contention is that The Intercontinental and United States Championships are equal and thus are interchangeable when when deciding a Crown/Slam.

You say no because WWE never explicitly came out and said so.

On 8-4-06, JBL said he was a Slam winner. A WWE wrestler on WWE TV said he accomplished a WWE sanctioned feat.

It was said that no outside source has verified this, but no one in WWE has disputed JBL's claim either.

Also it must be pointed out that PWI has always considered the two championships as equal.

When PWI used to do their rankings for WWF and WCW, the I-C and U.S. Titles were always listed as automatic number one contenders for their respective World Champions. The same holds true today when they do the rankings for Raw (I-C) and Smackdown (U.S.).

PWI is considered the main source for what is considered a "World Title" and their word is law here on Wikipedia.

They also have always maintained that the I-C and U.S. Championships are of equal value and of equal standing.

As I have said before, I am not trying to vandalize or add nonsense to Wikipedia, only enhance it with an updated definition based on consensus and fact, based on logic and references.

JBL, PWI, and many other wiki users have backed up this definition. (Look at the Triple Crown Champion Discussion page).

All I ask is my contribution be allowed to stand as I respectfully feel that I am in the right on this one.

I'm willing to be nice about this

First of all, I'm not trying to get under anyone's skin or be disruptive to Wikipedia; all I'm trying to do is add information to make an article as encyclopediac as possible. WWE has put the WWE Tag Team Championship on the same level as the World Tag Team Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship on the same level as the WWE Championship. Now, I am willing to be fair and let ECW World Title go, as it's still a new title and PWI doesn't recognize it yet as a World Title. However, I must continue to argue for the US Championship, as it has been around for the past few years and WWE AND PWI have both recognized the US Championship to be equal to the IC Championship. We know this because, not only did JBL himself call himself a Triple Crown Champion (don't forget, Shawn Michaels called himself a Grand Slam Champion), but Big Show has also been called a Triple Crown Champion, and he never won the Intercontinental Championship, only the United States Championship. And, Big Show's page lists him being a Triple Crown Champion, and his page is in the Triple Crown Champion category. WWE Tag Team and World Heavyweight Championships are both eligible for Triple Crown; why not US Title? There's only about 9 months difference between the creation of the WWE Tag Team titles and the US t itle. Is 9 months really that much of a time issue? Ultimately, what would silence this whole debate is if WWE put up a list of Triple Crown Champions; but until they do, isn't it up to us to decide things? Anakinjmt 23:41, 10 December 2006 (UTC)

Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down here. Now, if you had read correctly, you would have read that I was willing to be nice about this. I'm not going to resort to a petty edit war, as that is stupid and pointless. For sources, where's the sources for the list of champions right now? That's not there. The article has already been tagged. For providing the sources...you know that WWE.com hasn't listed any of the superstars as being Triple Crown champions, and I've never read PWI, I only know this from other people that have shown me scans...and NO, I don't mean other people here. I'm talking about people on wrestling forums and such that get the magazine and have shown scans. As for JBL, being a Grand Slam Champion requires you to be a Triple Crown Champion, and Big Show didn't call himself a Triple Crown Champion, but he's been referred to as one before (JR, Michael Cole, etc.). I couldn't tell you when because I honestly don't have an airdate, but I do recall them calling him one before. Relax, no need to go banning people because you don't agree with them. I'm not here to cause trouble, as I've said before, so I would appreciate it if you would stop treating me like that's all I'm out to do. Triple Crown Championship

By the very definition, the US title must be accepted as part of the Triple Crown. It is a midcard title. The Wikipedia article has at least one flaw in it. The flaw is either not including the US title as a step towards achieving it, or recognizing wrestlers who haven't won the IC title as only needing one of the others to achieve it. John Cena is one of the most notable people on that list, as he is listed as only needing a tag title reign, but he hasn't won the IC title. That is understandable; however, there seems to be a consensus to include the US title in the article with or without sources. It is generally acknowledged that the US title counts towards the TC, and I don't see why it should be left out because there aren't any websites that say it does. In my opinion, WP:IAR also applies to this situation. I know that the IAR thing is usually used as a bullshit answer, but in this case I do feel that it actually applies. Common sense says that the US title counts, consensus says to add it to the article, JBL and the Big Show have both been called TC champions on the TV shows, so leaving it out hurts the article. I noticed that you wrote on THL's talk page that you had me checked to see if I was a sock of Big Boss. First of all, let me assure you that I am not. If you check my IP, you can see I'm from Michigan. Second, I'm not offended that you did, as it appeared my edits were very similar to his. I just happen to agree with him concerning the US title for the TC criteria. I am still looking for a viable source, and so far I've found one thing, but I want to check it out more before I present it, as I've never heard of it before (but that may not mean anything) and I want to make sure it's a good source. Also, I'm sorry if I was part of the reason you left beforehand. I will admit, I was frustrated that you didn't allow the US title in and I thought you were hiding behind the no original research policy, but I see now that you're using that as a check so it can be the best accurate. While I still feel the same about the US title, I understand the need for some sort of verification. However, I do wish to know if you personally believe it should be in there. It used to be a redirect alright. I tried to restore the redirect after protecting the page but apparently it didn't work while the {{sprotected2}} template was hanging there. I could of course have restored the redirect if I simply removed the template, but then I guess I was concerned that other admins would not know that the protection was intended to last longer than usual. Oh well, maybe I'll just do that after all. Thanks for reminding me of this odd situation. I really have no idea why was this particular page so avidly attacked, it's not like it's going to attract a lot of potential customers after spam. Format for List of professional wrestling stables and tag teams?

I'm not sure if you forgot about the article or not, but it still needs some kind of format. I was thinking a similar type of table as the promotions page, then broken down into sections: active teams, active stables, inactive teams and inactive stables. Hmm... well, the explanation is easy (although I can't understand why): the template/MediaWiki is considering a space as album name. In example, "| Cover = " (note the space) gives the Cover variable in the template the value " " (a single space). If it is written "| Cover =" (note the lack of space) makes the image appear. FYI on Randy Orton "This Fire Burns"

I noticed you removed "This Fire Burns" from Randy Orton's line the Music in Professional Wrestling article. FYI, he did, for exactly one episode, use a theme song that I believe was "This Fire Burns" (currently C.M. Punk's theme). The following week, the theme song was reverted to his normal theme. No official reason was given for either change.

However, all that being said, I doubt this fact is verifiable in a published source (I just personally know the song changed for a week because I happened to watch those particular episodes last year and my friend and I spent a while wondering about it). So I don't have a problem with deleting the information as unreferenced. But just so you know, he DID change his theme song for exactly one week in 2006. Later! Dugwiki 18:26, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Hmm.. never saw the epsiode you mentioned :( Anyways, two reasons that it probably shouln't stay is because 1) I don't think we're confident that it was in fact "This Fire Burns" but if we had a source it might be better and 2) If he only used it for one week, is it that important that it be recognized as his theme? A comment about WWE alumni

Well actually two comments: good job on working on cleaning that, and secondly: Justice Smith, Seth Skyfire, Tracy Taylor, Tommy Suede, Ryan Reeves, Jack Bull, Mike Taylor and Tony Santarelli never appeared on WWE tv ever: they aren't alumni. Being a development talent isn't alumni to WWE itself (if that was the case, the alumni page would be flooded with every development talent released ever). I've removed them from the list. Wrestling photos/tag teams and stables

I don't know if you knew this or not, but I created this: User:RobJ1981/NeededPWphotos for a list of wrestling articles needing photos. It's helped somewhat, but not alot. Do you know good sources to get wrestling photos for Wikipedia? While adding articles to the list: I've also noticed tag teams and stables articles on Wikipedia are a mess. Most are short unsourced stubs and lots of POV statements. I've been trying on and off (while I assess and other tasks on Wikipedia), to clean them... but I've hardly made a dent in them. Yes, I can help with improving articles and giving you names to be added to your list. Something I haven't been able to do is find a good place to get Images for articles. Most Images about wrestling now pretty much have to be public domain or they get deleted because a rule on Fair Use is that it's only fair use if no free alternative is available. Slightly frustrated. I really want to retire (and return occasionally to put a news or two), but I simply cannot while User:Afrika paprika is on the run. I'm sorry to hear your frustrated :( The only advice I can give you for retiring (like you want) is to not look at the history of your userpage if he is actively vandalizing it. Responsible users/admins will revert and block the socks whenever they start to show up, so theres no reason for you to stress. I have similar trouble whenever I try to retire or the like, my page was vandalized 7 times within the first 24 hours of me trying to leave. Thats when your most vulnerable and thats when vandals seek to attack you. My advice would to be just to stay away from the history page as much as possible. But if you have to look at the history, don't look at what the vandal said, because it will most likely make you upset (I should know, the weirdest vandalism to my userpage was a vandal saying I masturbated with a gerbil up my anus or something like that.) All autoblocks are a 24-hour block. in the case of Big Boss 2, If an IP that was used to login as Big Boss 2 accesses Wikipedia, the WikiMedia server recognizes it and automatically blocks it for 24 hours. Pending on how long the original blockees block was, Big Boss 2's in indef, the autoblock for 24 hour trend will constantly reappear because he will never be unblocked. This is how problem IPs get singled out. I checked and currently no autoblocks have been activated for Big Boss 2, so no worries right now.

*Moe's head swells from overload of questions* Your account was created before the block, you will always be allowed to use that account as long as the block isn't on your block log. That specefic IP he was won't be able to create accounts. If you have more than one IP, I guess that's your ticket around it, but if it's a static IP, you're stuck to one account creation (unless you create an account outside that IP). If the autoblock has been removed, you can edit from your account. If you logged in on the same IP that was blocked, there would have only been one autoblock to remove, and you're editing now aren't you? :) Pending on the number of IPs you use, you're probably not going to have deal with this problem. Umaga, they are giving him a mega-push. He has gotten over as a monster heel, and he is able to make the power moves look really devastating. Vince also likes to push big guys. It has worked for him enough times in the past (Undertaker for one example) for him to keep trying it. Umaga also has a fair amount of experience as a member of 3 minute warning, so he knows how to handle himself fairly well. Could you comment here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Professional_wrestling#Redlinks_in_wrestling_PPV_and_event_articles. Basically to sum it up: I think redlinks should be in articles, and another doesn't. I don't think there is any policy on this? The redlinks are useless non-notable teams and wrestlers that will most likely never get an article on Wikipedia. I'm hoping for a consensus with the project about this. Nirvana (band)

Please stop what you are doing. The consensus is widespread that the Seattle band belongs at Nirvana (band) and that the disambiguation properly directs people to the UK band. (This move is certainly not "non-controversial".) -- ChrisB 06:34, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

There is more than one band named Nirvana, Nirvana from American and The UK band). Feel free to discuss this, but I beleive this change would most defiently satisfy our guidelines on disambiguation. Problem #1: the name you chose does not follow Wiki guidelines. The correct title for what you are trying to accomplish is Nirvana (US band). If you go to that article and check its history, you'd notice that this has been attempted before and was immediately reverted.

Problem #2: this was not a non-controversial move as dictated by guidelines. The most responsible action would have been to consult with the editors of the article before attempting a move.

No move like this, particularly with a FEATURED ARTICLE, should be attempted by a lone editor on a whim. There should have been discussion prior to it happening. Discuss this on the talk page and move it appropriatly after consensus is formed once again. But you can't deny the fact that there is two Nirvana's and this disambiguation is nessecary. One can't be Nirvana (band) and the other one be Nirvana (UK band) and expect disambiguation to be the best it can be. The UK band could in theory take the same title as Nirvana the Washington band and it still would have been correct. Disambiguation is meant to be clear enough so viewers (not editors) of this site can easily navigate it without confusion (not the only reason for DAB though). I appricate your hard work on these articles. But there seems to be a problem. The many red-links you provided on the episode guide seems to bring trolling editors to create non-sense pages or poorly created ones. Since you seem to be the one doing a fine job creating the articles, I was going to inform you of this. I am filling all the red-links to a redirect to List of Degrassi: The Next Generation episodes until you get the time to create the articles to their best. I moved the Dolphin Stadium section located in Background to a new subsection called Dolphin Stadium Trivia in the belief that that is a more appropriate location. I suspect that it others might have removed the material because of its location. I do think that the information is appropriate, however.

Very relaxing. Of course, the day I get back I return to BB0 causing all hell to break loose again, but I was expecting that, so no biggie. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. That's always tough. While I was gone one of my uncles died, and they went ahead and did the funeral while I was gone. Understandable since it was literally hours after I had left, I was going to be gone for almost 2 weeks, and they had no way to contact me, but it is really quite depressing.
