[edit] Formation and First Album
Formed in early 2004, the band quickly gained popularity thanks largely to the buzz created by their performances at live shows in the Athens area, mostly at the world-famous 40 Watt Club. August of 2005 saw the independent release of their debut album, titled Catalogue of Generous Men. [1] Most notable among the album's influences are a prominent use of the piano, much in the same fashion as Ben Folds Five, and a reliance on song structure centered around catchy melodies and memorable hooks, similar to those of Brit-Pop.
[edit] Current Plans
In Fall and Winter 2006, Modern Skirts have told fans that they will be doing a national tour, including stops in "NY, FL, PA, WA, TX, LA, NM, AR, CA, OR, AL, MI, NC, SC, DC, VA, MN, IL, OH, VT, ETC, ETC". They do continue to do performances at the 40 Watt Club and other local Athens venues.
