Modena Vox
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Modena Vox is a rock and roll quintet from Columbus, Ohio. The band is notable as one of the few "buzz bands" hailing from Ohio, with a growing cult following throughout the Midwest.
Modena Vox is known for their multi-dimensional sound with lush guitar melodies layered over up-tempo rock and roll beats. Introspective lyrics display a depth of emotion without venturing into the maudlin or cliché.

[edit] Line-up
- Anthony Timperman - Lead Vocals
- Daniel Harris - Guitar
- J.J. DeLibera - Guitar
- Thomas Bragg - Bass
- Michael Savage - Drums
Conceived at Ashland University in Ohio, Modena Vox has been through several incarnations always revolving around the yin-and-yang relationship of its two founding members, Anthony Timperman and Daniel Harris.[1] Timperman is the charismatic frontman and poetic lyricist. His mercurial personality is balanced by Harris, the soulful, classically-trained guitarist. After moving to Columbus, the two solidified the line-up by hand-picking the following musicians from the local scene: J.J. DeLibera, an easy-going guitarist and dynamic soloist, Thomas Bragg, whose choir-boy looks belie his driving basslines, and Mike Savage, a forceful and steady percussionist. The comaraderie amongst the five is obvious on-stage and off.
[edit] Recordings
The band recorded their latest demo in Woodstock, NY with producer J.P. Bowersock (The Strokes, Ryan Adams). [2]
The video for their song "Hard Pressed" was produced by Outsider Entertainment [3] and was entered in the 2005 Flint Film Festival [4] in Michigan.
[edit] Television & Radio
Modena Vox was recently featured in their first national television appearance on Budweiser's True Music with Katie Daryl, which was filmed in Austin, Texas at the 2006 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival. [5]
Modena Vox's music can be heard on WHRC Chicago's hostageradio.com [6] and Last.fm [7] The band has also been on several college radio playlists, such as WBAR - Barnard College [8] and WTBU - Boston University [9]
