[edit] Hello

Hope you're doing all right. Certain people have their agendas, you know. It's difficult to see sometimes, and patience is certainly a virtue, but all of this will eventually lead to a neutral and encyclopedic resource for the entire English-speaking world.

Though I suppose it will always be a work in progress ... Dino 19:52, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use image in User:Mobile 01, User talk:Mobile 01, and User:

Note that, per Wikipedia:Fair use#Policy criterion #9, fair use images are not allowed in any pages outside of articles. I noticed that you directly include Image:Adel panorama.jpg on your user page, on your talk page and on your talk page archive. This is inappropriate. Please remove them. You may, however, include them as a direct link. Thank you. --Iamunknown 06:40, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

RE:Fair use image
I warned you didnt I? I am so sorry that a fair use enforcer has found you.
It is only a matter of time before wikipedians delete the photo. Wikipedians, who have little grasp of fair use law, no training in fair use law, and actively push their own eroneous views of copyright law on other wikipedians.
Many wikipedians have fought back and continue to fight back. I was indefinetly booted for daring to question current wikipedia policy.
The admin, a powerful friend of Jimbo, refused to answer my questions and threatened to boot me. Another wikipedian, who supported this admin, went through everyone of my edits, and had another admin boot me.
This admin who refused to answer my question was later hounded off wikipedia.
Recently a large straw poll was closed down by Jimbo Wales, the creator of wikipedia, because it threatened the status quo. The straw poll was asking for clearer guidlines on fair use. Several long time editors left wikipedia as a result.
The big picture
What is happening with wikipedia is typical of any organization as it gets older.
Aging organizations becoe less dynamic, innovative, and creative.
Aging organizations begin to become less democratic as power is centralized into a small group.
Many aging organizations, whether it be Communist Russia or Capitalist America, a NGO, a religious organization, or a small group of people all do the same thing purge those who threan the status quo and threaten the power of the small group who have power.
Wikipedia has first mover advantage, which makes it hard for newer companies to compete against Wikipedia, but eventually, as Wikipedia becomes more and more popular. There is bound to be a newer company which will become more popular than wikipedia, and steal away dissatisfied wikipedians. This new organization will which has all of the wonderful democratic qualities that Wikipedia is slowly, inevitably losing.
Unless Wikipedia and reinvents itself Wikipedia's eventual decline is immenent.
If I had to bet against wikipedia becoming an extinct dinasour or Wikipedia reintenting itself, I would bet that Wikipedia will eventually become a extinct dinasour. (I have a Glass half empty view)

[edit] Images from bridgestone.co.jp

Hey Mobile, I just noticed that you uploaded several images from bridgestone.co.jp to illustrate Bridgestone. That's fine and may be acceptable under WP:FAIR. I am wondering, however, if you realize that you tagged Image:Dam 3.jpg through Image:Dam 9.jpg (see all the images at Special:Prefixindex/Image:Dam) as GFDL images. The notice at the bottom of http://www.bridgestone.co.jp/english/diversified/rubberdam/design.html indicates "Copyright © 2006 Bridgestone Corporation." Is there a reason I am missing to think that the images are freely licensed? --Iamunknown 04:12, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Meetup on 23rd April 2007

Hi Mobile 01,

Apologies if you're already aware of this, but I'd like to let you know that the second Adelaide Meetup will take place on Monday 23rd of April at ZUMA Caffe, 56 Gouger Street, Adelaide. The meeting is at 7:30am for breakfast with Wikipedia founder Jimbo Wales. Please see Wikipedia:Meetup/Adelaide/Meetup 2 for more details and indicate if you might attend.

Thanks,–cj | talk 13:46, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
NB: The above message is being delivered to users who are listed at WikiProject Adelaide or in Category:Wikipedians in South Australia with AutoWikiBrowser.

[edit] Signature

Hi again Mobile. You might like to take a look over Wikipedia:Signatures. Specifically, the section regarding images, which states that they are not allowed in signatures. I notice you include an Australian flag in yours; could you please remove it? Thanks,--cj | talk 15:03, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

I think perhaps that flags fall into a special category, and are not pictures at all. Take a look at the of signatures at User:Athaenara/Gallery, featuring a multitude.  MortonDevonshire  Yo  · 01:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
An image is an image ;). That page just demonstrates a multitude of signatures not following the guideline.--cj | talk 09:56, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Firestone article

The UNMIL report uses British English, so do a search for "Child labour". However, the denial of basic education is initially mentioned on page 43, the admission by management is on page 45, and the full list is on page 46. Page 39 is where the houses not being renovated since the 30's is drawn from. One of the downsides of using primary sources is that unless the page is specified in the source, it's really hard to find in the document. I don't have time to do it at this very moment, but I'll go through and add the pages to the source later. Thanks for contacting me about the dead link though. I didn't verify the link when I moved it from the Liberian page. --Bobblehead 19:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

On another note, it appears that the Liberian plantation issue is more than just Firestone. We should probably work on coming up with a new name for the article and incorporating the other 4 corporations that UNMIL found were violating basic human rights on the plantations. --Bobblehead 19:11, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Seems things are nearly wrapped up.

Thanks for the notice on my talk page about the Mediation situation. I started a new job this new year and well, my presence on the Wiki has been rather limited. However, it looks like the Firestone page is shaping up nicely, though what happened to the other folks involved? It seems Travb has vanished and the other fellow, he's apparently been repeatedly blocked for some other infraction. Ah well, s'pose thats how the apples fall. ~ (The Rebel At) ~ 01:05, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Firestone head office in Nashville.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Firestone head office in Nashville.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:06, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
