David Gerard's Sock puppet? - [This first entry on my User page was an accusation made against me, apparently by someone who normally signs himself "PV". "Perceptive Visionary" doesn't seem to quite fit the person well. "Paranoid Vulture" of others reasonings and reasonability might be a more appropriate extension of the initials. I am not David Gerard, and thus far, to my memory, have had no dialog with him at any point. A further synopsis of my interaction with this particular individual is on my Talk page.]

Now to proceed to more interesting statements. Here are some of my favorite lines by Herman Melville in his classic tale of Moby-Dick.

"All visible objects, man, are but as pasteboard masks. But in each event —in the living act, the undoubted deed —there, some unknown but still reasoning thing puts forth the mouldings of its features from behind the unreasoning mask."

"All that most maddens and torments; all that stirs up the lees of things; all truth with malice in it; all that cracks the sinews and cakes the brain; all the subtle demonisms of life and thought; all evil, to crazy Ahab, were visibly personified, and made practically assailable in Moby Dick."

"What the white whale was to Ahab, has been hinted; what, at times, he was to me, as yet remains unsaid."

Ponder Eternity and Eternal Love and you will perceive beyond the realms of Time. Spend too much time pondering the nonsense of scorn and hate and you won't see much at all. - Moby 21:58, 30 Apr 2004 (UTC)
