[edit] Two types?

Is it just me or are there actually two types of MALP? I'm sure I've seen one type that has tank like angled caterpiller tracks, and one type with big round wheels that looks like a buggy (almost like the FRED). Are they two different types, or just the same type equiped for different terrain?

[edit] Merge

F.R.E.D. is basically the same as the MALP and there is no info about it. Merge?--Zxcvbnm 00:44, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Perhaps into some sort of generic Stargate technologies article, but not into each other - FREDs and MALPs are similar in some respects but they aren't identical and I don't see how to pick one out as the "primary" example of "remote controlled thingies sent through the Gate". Conversation in the WikiProject:Stargate is drawing us towards having fairly decent articles on technologies and devices, probably on one big page subdivided by Race, and then having individual articles for each device itself. So I'd go with not merging.--alfakim 20:02, 9 August 2005 (UTC)

I think earth-created technology should be grouped into one page and alien technology into another. I think it just makes sense.

I change my mind. There is already a stargate technologies page. Perhaps no further pages are necessary.--alfakim 22:02, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

FRED is a totally different vehicle from the MALP. the may look similar but they are both very different.

I've moved the FRED material to Technology in the Stargate universe#FRED, since it was only stub-length anyway and so fits well as a section in a more general article. It doesn't fit well here. Bryan 01:18, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

Could someone put in more about the difference between the one used in the movie and the one in the TV show?

Also it's not clear what exists in the real world and what exists in the stargate universe.
