Template talk:Ml

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ml stands for Merge Link. This is designed to avoid situations when a subject is merged into a larger article and then it becomes very tedious to link to. For example, Hufflepuff was once its own page. Now it is(rightly) a redirect to Hogwarts Houses. However, section redirects are not possible(YET), which means going to Hufflepuff takes me to the top of Hogwarts Houses when I really primarily want the Hufflepuff info. To make a link to that info specifically(and not have it look stupid), I have to use the form [[Hufflepuff#Hufflepuff|Hufflepuff]]. This template will simplify things. In place of my example, you can now do {{ml|Hufflepuff}}. Jolly linking. Superm401 | Talk 17:09, July 24, 2005 (UTC)

Section linking is possible now, therefore reuse this template for uniformity with Meta (is compatible)).--Patrick 15:29, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
