What do you need assistance with? Cheers! Yuser31415 18:13, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am very concerned to find that "Meta" whatever that is, has listed an entire, very valuable domain, suite101.com as a spam domain. On the other hand, a site exactly like Suite101, called About.com, is welcomed here, cited and linked to. I can't find anyone to absorb the importance of what I'm telling you - you're restraining and descriminating against excellent writers who work hard to compile factual, well-researched information of value to some Wiki users. I can't imagine how you made the determination that one site is ok and the other, of the same genre is not. Please tell me how to contact the proper entity to call this to their attention. Suite101 is NOT spam. This is important and significant.Mkpelland 18:16, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Where did you find out that 'suite101.com' is a spam site on Wikipedia? Yuser31415 18:19, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I saw it on the META page spam list. I also added an external link to the grandparent page two days ago and it was removed becasue the domain is blacklisted. Mkpelland 18:25, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you can do here. Since technically Wikipedia does not have a "proper entity" (ie., everything is decided by community consensus) to go to, have a read up on the guide to reliable sources and see if "suite101.com" passes the criteria. Yuser31415 18:30, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- yes, I have done so - and we certainly meet the criteria - whoever blacklisted and spam banned the entire should be able to hear reason and reverse that decision - how does one find out who made the decision. Who is acocuntable, or can anyone just blacklist a domain?Mkpelland 18:54, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, can you demonstrate how it is a reliable source? Only then can I take action either one way or the other. Yuser31415 18:57, 5 January 2007 (UTC) Wait a minute, are you a webmaster of the website "suite101.com"? Do you have any relation to it, or are you just a casual reader? Yuser31415 18:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

I am not an admin, sysop or webmaster. I contribute there, as I do to many sites as a writer. I have resume credentials making me an expert in the field of granparenting, baby boomers and seniors. I write articles that could enhance the informaiton that appears here on those topics. My writing has cited sources and often links back to sites like Wiki so that readers can find important facts they're looking for - and get a balanced perspective. I'm not selling anything - couldn't care less if someone is shopping or not shopping - my time is devoted to helping people gain knowledge. So, no, I'm not Webmaster. That's a huge site - suite101. You might take a look - I bet you'd like what you see. Try aginggrandparents dot suite101.com.
- Hmmm, even if I like what I see, technically if you contribute to the site you can't use it as a source; see our "conflict of interest" guidelines. I don't think it's called spam; just that it isn't classified as a reliable source. Don't be disheartened; instead, cite sources that are permitted by our reliable sources policy, and you will do well. To use suite101.com as a source, you would have to prove it is reliable, by other means than suite101.com itself. Cheers! Yuser31415 19:17, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
but Yuser, my concern is that the domain is spam banned - it cant even be used as an outsid elink and that just isn't right or equitable...can you help?
- It isn't banned, it's just not recommended as a source. Which page did you use the link on, and what for? Yuser31415 19:33, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
