MK 103 cannon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MK 103 is the designation of a 30 mm cannon used in German combat aircraft during World War II. It was development on the MK 101. It had a high muzzle velocity compared to the MK 101. Even though it was lighter than the MK 101, the 103 was still too heavy for common use in fighter aircraft and therefore not in wide use. The Focke Wulf FW 190A-8 "Sturmbocke" bomber-destroyer sub-series in 1944 used a pair of faired MK-108 cannons under the wings, and later versions had a fairing over the barrel and vertical ejecting muzzle brake.
