I have chosen for my wikipedia topic the theme of collaborative responses to natural disaters. You might ask, what possible positive effect can natural didater have on people. well, of course, most are already familiar with the negative effects( ie. loss of life, mass property damage, and traumatic on people. There is, however, at least one positive effect of natural distaters, and that effect is quite universal--it brings people together. Natural disters bring people together on two basic levels: (1.) It brings governments together A. governments toghter with governments B. governments together with people. (2.)It brings people toghter with pe
When a natural disaater occures, often governments must appeal to other governments for help. The government receiving the help in turn brings that help to people. In few other incidents have governments and the masses been brought together with such possitive impact as they have in natural disasters. But the real power of impact comes when ordinary people are brought, through these natural disaters, into contact with ordinary people. This includes ordinary people who are simply doing their jobs, such as fireman, policeman, rescue workers, etc.. In a sense, my topic, man's humanity to man, is closely related to my choice of topic for the wikipedia. One simply has read the rash of articles on Katrina and other disaters to see how they have brout people together in a personal way, uniting them together in a Good Samaritan bond.
In order to see how natural disaters can have a positive effect on people, it will be necessary to examine the aforementioned categories a little closer.

The Governmental Level of Collaborative Response

For an example of a governmental level of collaborative response you might read my article, posted on October 24, entitled Good Deed by the U.N., which reports about an appeal launched by the United Nations for 22 m in aid for Guatamalan survivors of floods and landslides caused by tropical storm Stan, which left in its wake more 650 confirmeds dead, with still hundreds of others still missing. The news report went on to say,in fact, that entire families have disappeared. To these tragic statistics, the BBC added a report that at least 100 people have died elsewhere in Central America and Mexico. These statistics are only mentioned as a reminder of the grim effects of natural disasters in order to show how much government help is needed and the importance of intergovernmental cooperation in crisis. The point is that this collaborative effort on the part of the world's governments and their resulting increased cooperation were brought on by the disasters themselves.
another example of international collaborative efforts brought on by natural disaster is my article posted october 24 entitled Humanity Theme, in which no less than 24 finance ministers from around the world reached an agreement on a plan to wipe out as much as 55 billion dollars in debt owed by impoverished countries.
An example of how governments are brought together with people could be my article, which was published October 20, 2005, entitled Donor's Favorite Charities. This article included a whole list of organizations, including the American Red Cross and United Way, which link with people in an effort raise funds for disaster victim
There are many stories that one could read, in books such as Out of the Blue, about how through heroic acts, fireman, police, rescue squads and other paraprofessionals are brought together with people. There is even an article, published October 11 2005 in World Exclusive News about entertainers linking together with people in response to a natural disaster. My article entitled Woman's Humanity to Man featured a popular female singing group called Destiny's Child, and their release of a new ballad, which, according to World Exclusive News, is an anthem for these troubled times. The song entitled Stand Up For LOve, was the official World Children's Day Anthem, and the music video associated with song urges us all to hold to hope in these troubled times.
As previously stated, everyone is familiar with negative effects of natural distaters. But the positive side is that in the end, when the indomitable spirit of man rises once again, there is always a collaborative response, linking governments to governments, governments to people and people to people on a unity that might not have otherwisecome about.
